UFO: Afterlight é a terceira versão da moderna série de games de estratégia em tempo real — UFO —, que traz uma nova perspectiva à série, apresentando a visão de solitários humanos que habitam em Marte. Com vários elementos de RPG, o game combina missões táticas com estratégia global e traz à tona uma nova história baseada em eventos do UFO: Aftershock.
Com uma interface intuitiva e gráficos estilo cartoon, você pode sempre utilizar elementos do ambiente a seu favor, entrar e sair de prédios, explorar um planeta completamente diferente da Terra e divertir-se durante horas com efeitos sonoros ultra-realistas.
Suas missões vão desde patrulhar um território próprio e defender sua base, até capturar uma vida extraterrestre, incubá-la, analisá-la e desenvolver novas armas eficientes contra ela. Pode ser que você tenha robôs ou alienígenas em seu time, portanto não esqueça que decisões em quesitos como diplomacia e pesquisa podem alterar completamente o curso do jogo.
Novas tecnologias, armas e equipamentos foram implantados conforme novas raças de inimigos e alienígenas foram adicionados. Para isso você pode personalizar seus soldados (que estão sempre dispostos a aprender novas funções e técnicas), renomear sua tropas e muito mais.
História
Há 50 anos a Terra foi invadida por uma raça inimiga conhecida como: Reticulans. Durante o conflito, grande parte da humanidade foi dizimada e os sobreviventes se isolaram no planeta vermelho, sendo que devido a problemas estruturais a maioria do grupo foi mantida dormindo criogenicamente e o restante — cientistas, aventureiros, exploradores, pesquisadores e outros — foram encarregados de repovoar o planeta.
Você está no controle deste pequeno grupo de humanos que estão sozinhos em uma colônia marciana na busca da salvação da humanidade. Diversas aversidades como escassez de água e batalhas por território serão apenas alguns dos problemas que terão de ser enfrentados na busca pela sobrevivência.
